Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers (2-3) defeated the Idaho Steelheads (3-2) 5-2 in Game Five of the West Division Semi-Finals at the Qwest Arena on Monday night. Chris Neiszner scored twice and the Wranglers used a three-goal scoring spree in a 1:18 second-period flurry. Dan Tudin, Marco Peluso and Todd Alexander each scored as the Wranglers forced the series back to Las Vegas for Game Six at 7:05 pm on Tuesday night. Las Vegas goalie Marc Magliarditi made 23 saves on 25 Steelheads shots for his first playoff victory of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Steelheads took an early 1-0 lead at 3:31 of the opening period as Greg Rallo picked up a puck off the Las Vegas end boards and flipped it into the back of the net for his second of the playoffs. It marked the fourth time in this series that Idaho scored the first goal of the game. Las Vegas countered late in the period as defenseman Christian Chartier zipped a pass out of his own zone to the Idaho blue line for Marco Peluso. The rookie winger went in all alone on a breakaway, deking and stickhandling to the left of Silverthorn, then firing the puck into the back of the net. Pelsuo's goal tied the game at one with only 2:19 remaining in the period. Each team had eight shots in the first period.

In the second period, Las Vegas erupted for three goals in a 1:18 span. The Wranglers started the scoring just 1:39 into the middle period when Chris Neiszner netted his first goal of the night on a pass from Derek Edwardson. The Wranglers center set up behind the net and centered out front for Neiszner, who beat Silverthorn on the stick side. Just 21-seconds later, Idaho Captain Jeremy Mylymok took an elbowing penalty at 2:01 to give Las Vegas a power play. Las Vegas winger Dan Tudin snapped a rebound home in front of the net for a 3-1 lead at 2:43. Neiszner scored again, this time Edwardson found him on the far post for his second of the night, just fourteen seconds after Tudin's goal, extending the lead to 4-1. Idaho trimmed the lead to 4-2 as Paul Caponigri found Marty Flichel streaking down the right-wing side for his second goal of the playoffs at 12:05. The Wranglers outshot the Steelheads 13-9 in the period.

In the third period, Todd Alexander added an empty-net goal while Idaho was on the power play with 1:27 remaining in the game. The game turned ugly in the last 15 seconds with numerous penalties handed out, including a match penalty to Las Vegas forward Sean O'Connor.

Idaho leads the series 3-2 with Game Six slated for Tuesday night at 7:05 pm in Las Vegas.
