Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Martin Tuma has been reassigned to the team from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and that forward Phil Aucoin has been placed on the 30-day injured reserve list. As per team policy the injury was not revealed.
Tuma rejoins the Everblades after picking up one assist and 38 penalty minutes in 11 games with the Americans during his latest call-up. The 20-year-old, who was recalled to Rochester on March 25, has picked up six points (0g, 6a) in 48 games with the Everblades this season. The rookie out of the Czech Republic previously skated in one game with the Americans on December 23 and tallied one assist. In addition to his 12 games in the AHL with Rochester this season, the former 5th round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in 2003 skated in five games at the AHL level last season with the San Antonio Rampage.
Prior to turning pro, Tuma spent two seasons at the junior level with Sault-Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League. In 118 career OHL games, Tuma collected 28 points and 155 PIM.
In a separate move, Aucoin heads to the IR after closing out the regular season with 43 points (17g, 26a) in 65 games with the Everblades. The 24-year-old also saw action in four games with the Charlotte Checkers this season before being acquired by the Everblades in a trade on November 4.
