
Wranglers Finish Off Stockton 4-1 In Game Six, Win Series 4-2

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers ® defeated the Stockton Thunder 4-1 in Game Six of the National Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night in front of 3,464 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forward Curtis Fraser scored twice in his return to Las Vegas from the AHL. Center Tyler Mosienko scored and also added an assist in the series-clinching win. Center Bruce Mulherin also scored in the victory. Goalie Kevin Lalande stopped 31 of 32 Stockton shots for the win. With the victory, Las Vegas clinches the first round series 4-2 and will now move on to face the Alaska Aces in the second round of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Game One is Friday night at 7:05 pm and Game Two is Saturday night at 7:05 pm. Both games are at the Orleans Arena.
Las Vegas jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Fraser and Mosienko each scored 31-seconds apart just five minutes into the game. Mosienko scored his third goal of the playoffs off a backhand shot at 4:56, giving the Wranglers a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Tyson Strachan carried the puck into the Stockton zone off the next face-off, centering to Curtis Fraser in the high-slot. Fraser snapped a shot past Tim Boron at 5:27, extending the Wranglers lead to 2-0. Las Vegas outshot Stockton 16-8 in the first period.
The Wranglers increased their lead to 3-0 in the second period when Bruce Mulherin scored his first goal of the playoffs at 9:43. Right wing Adam Cracknell set up the goal by springing Mulherin on a breakaway. Mulherin failed on his first attempt and scored off his own rebound.
In the third period, Stockton broke a scoreless drought at 13:25. Off of a face-off in the Las Vegas zone, Ryan O'Mara played the puck to the Las Vegas net for Stephane Goulet. Goulet scored his fifth goal of the playoffs and pulled the Thunder within two goals at 3-1. The Wranglers added an empty-net goal as Curtis Fraser scored with 57-seconds remaining to secure the victory at 4-1.
