Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- Bakersfield Condors LW Mark Derlago is en route to Winnipeg, prepared to sign a Professional Try-Out Contract (PTO) with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The Moose currently trail the Syracuse Crunch 2-games-to-1 in the opening round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Just one day after a dramatic Game 6 overtime loss for the Condors, Derlago got the call to return to Manitoba. He signed a PTO with the Moose on March 18 and appeared in four games, recording five points (2g-3a), including a two-goal effort on March 25 at Lake Erie. Derlago notched an assist and was voted one of the three stars in his AHL debut.
The Brandon, Manitoba native set rookie records for the Condors with 39 goals and 57 points. His goal total led all rookies in the ECHL and ranked third overall. He also tied Condors records with a seven-game goal- scoring streak and three hat tricks this season. Derlago added six points (2g-4a) in six playoff games for Bakersfield, good for second on the team, and had a pair of assists in Game 6 last night.
"We're certainly proud of Mark and the season that he had," said Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond. "It's well deserved and we wish him the best in Manitoba."
Manitoba hosts the Crunch for Games 4 and 5 this weekend. All three games of their series thus far have gone to overtime.
