Wranglers Dismantled in Fresno 6-2

Fresno, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (28-9-7, 65 points) were defeated by the Fresno Falcons (25-11-6, 56 points) 6-2 at the Save Mart Center on Saturday night. Fresno's Luke Curtain registered a hat trick and two assists to pace the Falcons. Forward Mike Ramsey also netted two goals in the four-goal Fresno win. Las Vegas defenseman Mike Madill and left wing Bruce Mulherin each scored in the loss. Fresno goal Kris Mayotte stopped 24 of 26 Las Vegas shots for the Falcons win. Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande made 31 saves in a losing effort for Las Vegas. The Wranglers will head to Phoenix to meet to RoadRunners at 6:11 pm (PST) on Tuesday and Thursday at the U.S. Airways Center.

In the first period, Fresno scored the only goal of the opening period for the 1-0 lead. Left wing Luke Curtain redirected a Kenny MacAuley shot from the right point with just under four minutes to go in the period for the Falcons lead.

In the second period, the Falcons extended their lead to 2-0 when John Morland poked in his own rebound at 4:54. Morlang's power-play goal was assisted by Curtain and Brady Leisenring. Back at full strength in a penalty-filled period, the Wranglers trimmed the Fresno lead to 2-1 when Bruce Mulherin redirected an Adam Cracknell shot at 6:24. Mulherin's ninth goal of the season came on the power-play and was also assisted by defenseman Jason Jozsa. The Falcons regained their two-goal lead at 3-1 as Curain tallied his second goal of the night at 11:55. The Wranglers racked up ten penalties for a total of 28 minutes in penalties and four Fresno power plays.

In the third period, Mike Ramsey scored twice in the third period to push the Fresno lead to 5-1. Falcons winger Curtain completed his hat trick with his ninth goal of the season at 18:04 for the 6-1. Las Vegas defenseman Mike Madill scored his fourth goal of the season with with 1:13 left in the game for the 6-2 final.

The Wranglers will continue on the road with stops in Phoenix, Bakersfield and Stockton. The team will play the RoadRunners in Phoenix on Tuesday at 6:11 pm (PST) at U.S. Airways Center. Las Vegas will return home on Friday, February 15th to host Victoria at 7:05 pm.
