Just one night after being blanked by Stockton G Tim Boron, the Condors (13-22-8, 34 points) scored early on him, 2:40 into the contest. C Tim Konsorada set up LW Todd Griffith in front of the net for a redirect, and Griffith's eighth goal of the season. The Thunder (19-22-3, 41 points) tied it up on the power play at 11:11 with a tally by C Geoff Paukovich. Bakersfield bounced back to regain the lead at 16:48 with F Sean Venedam's 12th of the season, tagging a rebound past Boron. It appeared the lead would hold heading into the intermission, but a late 2-on-1 tally by RW Ryan MacMurchy tied it at 2-2.

Neither team lit the lamp in the second period, keeping the score 2-2 through 40 minutes. Bakersfield managed a 14-12 shot lead in the frame, but Boron and Condors G Michel Robinson were equal to the task.

The goaltenders continued to duel in the third frame, with Stockton holding a 10-7 shot lead in the period. Bakersfield had three power plays in the stanza, and the Thunder had one of their own, but neither could convert and 60 minutes was not enough on this night. Just 27 seconds into overtime Bakersfield prevailed, with Ianiero lifting home a centering feed from Venedam to earn the win.
