Brine becomes 14th Blads to skate in NHL

ESTERO, FL - Former Florida Everblades forward David Brine became the 14th player in Everblade history to dress in both an Everblades jersey and a National Hockey League jersey after he made his NHL debut with the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.

Brine made his NHL debut in the Panthers' 3-2 win at Tampa Bay on February 2. The 23-year-old skated 12 shifts for a total of 8 minutes, 15 seconds as the Panthers engineered a come-from-behind win against their in-state rival by scoring twice in the third period to erase a 2-1 deficit.

Along with becoming the 14th player in Everblades history to play in the NHL, Brine is the 346th former ECHL player to advance to the NHL and the 17th to move to from the ECHL to hockey's highest level this season.

Brine began the season with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League where he notched 15 points (7g, 8a) in 46 games. Brine also played with the Amerks over the last half of the 2006-07 season registering eight points (4g, 4a) in 22 games.

As a rookie in '06-'07, Brine made his professional debut with the Everblades and played in a total of 52 games scoring 9 goals and adding 21 assists. The Truro, Nova Scotia native played in his first professional game with the Everblades on October 20, 2006 and scored his first professional point with an assist the next night. Brine registered his first pro goal on October 26, 2006 vs. the Charlotte Checkers.
