Woywitka Re-Ups With St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues' President John Davidson announced today the club has re-signed defenseman Jeff Woywitka to a one-year deal.

"Jeff will add depth and experience to our young core of defensemen," said Davidson.

Woywitka, 24, split last season with St. Louis and Peoria. He recorded a career high eight points (two goals, six assists) in 27 games with the Blues last season. He tallied 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 52 games with the Rivermen last season.

The 6-2, 217-pound defenseman has skated in 87 career NHL games all with St. Louis, collecting 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) along with 49 penalty minutes.

The Vermilion, Alberta native was originally Philadelphia's first round selection, 27th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.
