Minnesota Wild signs Olvecky, Stoner

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed LW Peter Olvecky (PEE-tuhr, ohl-VEHT-skee) and D Clayton Stoner to 2008-09 contracts. As per club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Olvecky, 22 (10/11/85), totaled a career-high 33 points (17-16=33) in 61 games with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Houston Aeros in 2007-08. He has played the last three seasons with the Aeros, posting 92 points (43-49=92) in 197 games. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound native of Nove Zamky, Slovakia, was Minnesota's third-round pick (No. 78 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Stoner, 23 (2/19/85), put up 15 points (3-12=15) and 78 PIM in 56 games with the Aeros in 2007-08. The 6-foot-4, 212-pound native of Port McNeill, B.C., has posted 46 points (10-36=46) and 274 PIM in three seasons with Houston. Stoner was Minnesota's third-round pick (No. 79 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
