Montreal Inks Niagra Falls Native Mike Glumac

MONTREAL, Quebec - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of free agent right-winger Mike Glumac to a one-year, two-way American Hockey League / National Hockey League contract for the 2008-2009 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Glumac, 28, has played in a total of 432 regular season NHL, AHL and ECHL games in his first six seasons as a professional. In 2007-2008, the 6'2", 201-pound right-winger went pointless with five penalty minutes in four games with the St. Louis Blues while registering 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) and 99 penalty minutes in 75 games with the Peoria Rivermen.

In 40 career regular season NHL contests, all with the St. Louis Blues (2005-2008), the Niagara Falls, Ontario native has posted 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and 38 penalty minutes. In 323 career regular season AHL games with the Cleveland Barons (2002-2003), Worcester IceCats (2003-2005) and Peoria Rivermen (2005-2008), Glumac has notched 244 points (113 goals, 131 assists) and 379 penalty minutes. In 69 career regular season ECHL games, all with the Pee Dee Pride (2002-2003), the former Miami University Red Hawk has accumulated 69 points (37 goals, 32 assists) and 49 penalty minutes.

More than 84 percent of today's NHL players are AHL graduates, and for the seventh year in a row, more than six million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2007-2008.
