Worcester Tornadoes News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NJ--- For the third consecutive game the Tornadoes scored first against the New Jersey Jackals, and on this night they would never look back. Worcester wins game three of a five game set 7-3.
Carlos Sosa began the action with a three run home run to right field, scoring Vinny Pennell and Garrett Olson with two outs. The Jackals put up a pair on Ryan Lobban (4-1) in the home half of the first, but those would be the only blemishes on the lefty's night. Lobban became the first Tornadoes hurler to reach four wins, tossing seven innings and striking out a season high of five.
Chris Colabello blasted his third homer of the year in the third to up the lead to 5-2. The final scoring plays were courtesy of a Mark Suchowieki (0-0) wild pitch and a Heath Keel sacrifice fly in the seventh and eighth respectively. PJ Thomas (0-1) pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth, followed by Albert Ayala (0-0) in the ninth.
Stuart Pomeranz pitched six plus innings for New Jersey in a losing effort and drops to 3-2.
Worcester looks to cut the Jackals first place lead to just two games tomorrow night at 7:05 from Yogi Berra Stadium, pre-game at 6:50 on WTAG. Probable starters are Alex Pena (2-2) for the Tornadoes and David Qualben (2-2) for NJ.
