Sussex Skyhawks News Release
Last night in the bottom of the 9th Skyhawks runners were on first and second with Kemeicek at the plate. Kyle stepped into the batters box showing bunt, and then as the third and first basemen were crashing in he pulled back. The pitch comes to the plate and Kemeicek's slash sails into the outfield for a base hit. Jeremy Hunt rounds third heads towards home and the Skyhawks win the game 17-16.
That was how a slugfest between the Skyhawks and Quebec resulted in a Skyhawks victory. All of this of course came after Quebec started the game by scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning. Alex Smith had started the game for the Skyhawks, but after only 2/3 of an inning of work manager Hal L made a call to his bullpen. However, in the bottom of the first Jorge Moreno Brought the Skyhawks right back into the game by belting a 3 run homer. Then in the 3rd Skyhawks took the lead by scoring eight runs on only nine hits. The Skyhawks offense overpowered the Capitals pitching again in the bottom of the fourth by scoring five more runs. The Capitals did not want to see the Skyhawks grab the victory. They battled back in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 16. However, with two on and no one out Kyle Kemeicek's slash brought in Jeremy Hunt to end the game. On the night Jorge Moreno was 2 for 4 with a home run, Jeremy Hunt was 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored, and Maikel Jova was 3 for 6 with four RBI's for the Skyhawks.
