
Worcester Makes it Close, But Loses 7-5 Against Rox

The Tornadoes battled back from a 7-1 deficit, but ultimately fell short in a 7-5 loss in Brockton on Friday night. Brockton used a five-run fifth inning to jump on top of Worcester and hold on for the win. Ryan Royster hit a three-run home run for Brockton, while Boomer Blanchard and Alex Trezza each homered for the Tornadoes.
Matt Smith picked up the loss, and Jimmer Kennedy got the win in relief. All but one of Brockton's batters registered a hit in the game. SS Boomer Blanchard was 3-4 with an RBI and two runs for Worcester. Tony Patane added an RBI single to the opposite field, and Alex Nunez recorded a pair of hits. Of the Tornadoes' five runs scored, two of them came around on consecutive wild pitches in the seventh inning.
Mike Gedman was the most effective pitcher for Worcester, working 1.2 innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and recording one strikeout.
