Wausau Woodchucks News Release
Rockford, IL - It's opening week in Wisconsin in the Northwoods League presented by Edvest. The Wisconsin Woodchucks fell the Rockford Rivets, 14-6, after seven innings; a nine-run Rockford fourth inning was too much for the 'Chucks to overcome at Rivets Stadium in Rockford, Illinois.
Wisconsin pitchers issued five walks in the fourth inning alone, and they handed out 13 total.
Joey Steele (University of San Francisco) started on the mound for the Woodchucks and threw three innings, conceding two runs (one earned) while striking out one.
At the plate, Mac Caples (Virginia Tech) reached base twice - including a two-RBI double - and added a stolen base. Javier Martinez (College of DuPage) singled three times to go along with a pair of runs scored and one driven in.
Jesse Philp (Texas A&M Corpus-Christi) took the loss for the Woochucks.
