OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN

Center JASON KROG was named the Wolves captain on Oct. 3, becoming just the seventh player in franchise history to hold that title. Center KEVIN DOELL and defenseman NATHAN OYSTRICK were selected to serve as alternate captains for the season.

WOLVES HEADLINES

--- TIM STAPLETON: Notched his first goal as a member of the Wolves just 63 seconds into the game against Milwaukee on Saturday ... The La Grange native ranked first on the Toronto Marlies and tied for seventh in the AHL with 79 points in 70 outings last season ... Paced the Marlies with 28 goals and 51 assists ... Appeared in four NHL outings with the Toronto Maple Leafs, picking up his first career NHL goal on Feb. 28 at Ottawa

--- DREW MacINTYRE: Stopped 37 of 40 shots in Saturday's loss to Milwaukee ... Led the AHL with a career-high 34 victories and ranked fifth in the league with a 2.30 goals-against average in 55 outings with the Admirals last season ... Posted a 34-15-4 record and .921 save percentage with Milwaukee last year

--- JASON KROG: Dished out an assist on Saturday, which moved him into a tie for seventh on the Wolves all-time points list with 193 (65G, 128A) ... Led the Manitoba Moose and ranked third in the American Hockey League with 86 points (30G, 56A) in 74 matchups last season ... Also appeared in four National Hockey League tilts with the Vancouver Canucks, potting one goal

--- RYLAN KAIP: Tallied his first short-handed strike, and second career goal, on Saturday ... Registered three points (G, 2A) and 17 penalty minutes in 42 outings with the Wolves during his professional debut last year

--- RILEY HOLZAPFEL: Pocketed an assist on Kaip's short-handed tally on Saturday ... Shared second among Wolves rookies with 13 goals and ranked second among club first-year pros and seventh on the squad with 32 points in 73 matchups with Chicago during his rookie season last year

--- PAUL POSTMA: Made his professional debut against Milwaukee on Saturday ... Paced Western Hockey League defensemen and set career-highs with 23 goals, 61 assists and 84 points in 70 outings with the Calgary Hitmen last season ... Led the WHL with a +67 plus/minus rating, which also broke a Calgary franchise record ... Selected to the WHL's Eastern Conference First All-Star Team ... Was the runner-up for the 2008-09 Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, given annually to the WHL's top defenseman ... Selected by the Atlanta Thrashers with their fourth choice (205th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft

WOLF TRACKS

--- The Wolves will hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to Winnipeg for a pair of games against the defending Western Conference Champion Manitoba Moose on Fri., Oct. 9, and Sat., Oct. 10; Chicago posted a 15-22-3-0 mark away from home ice last season.

--- Chicago thwarted three of Milwaukee's four power-play attempts on Saturday; The Wolves ranked 23rd in the league with an 81.7 efficiency rating on the penalty kill (331 of 405) last season.

--- RYLAN KAIP's goal on Saturday came while the Wolves were short-handed; Chicago shared seventh in the AHL with 12 short-handed goals last season, while forwards JOEY CRABB and JORDAN SMOTHERMAN shared fourth in the league with three short-handed tallies.

--- Saturday's loss was the first regulation defeat the Wolves have suffered in a season opener at home; Chicago is 8-4-2-2 all-time in season openers, which includes a 3-1-1-0 record at Allstate Arena.

--- The average age on the Wolves roster is 25, with players ranging in age from 20 to 33.

--- Chicago's roster features of 13 players that spent time with the club during the 2008-09 campaign.

WOLVES REWIND (0-1-0-0)

--- The Wolves scored 63 seconds into their first game, but fell victim to a three-goal second period by the Milwaukee Admirals en route to a 3-2 loss in their home opener before a crowd of more than 10,000 at the Allstate Arena Saturday night
--- Forwards TIM STAPLETON and RYLAN KAIP scored for Chicago
--- Goaltender DREW MacINTYRE posted 37 saves on 40 shots in his Wolves debut
