Crunch Sign Center Dan Fritsche

Syracuse, NY (October 5, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed center Dan Fritsche to an American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed

Fritsche, 24, appeared in 50 combined National Hockey League games with the NY Rangers and Minnesota last season, tallying five goals, eight assists and 12 penalty minutes.

Prior to last season, Fritsche spent four years in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, including parts of two seasons with the Crunch in which he appeared in 23 combined games in 2003-04 and 2005-06, notching seven goals, four assists and 12 penalty minutes.

In all, Fritsche has skated in 256 NHL games with Columbus, the NY Rangers and Minnesota, totaling 34 goals, 42 assists and 103 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Fritsche skated in 135 combined Ontario Hockey League games with Sarnia and London, collecting 71 goals, 84 assists and 143 penalty minutes.

A native of Parma, Ohio, Fritsche was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch travel to Binghamton on Friday, October 9 to take on the B-Sens before opening up at home when they face Adirondack on Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444 or by stopping by the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
