Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves announced Thursday they have traded center COREY LOCKE to the Abbotsford Heat in exchange for future considerations. In addition, the Wolves have received defenseman MARK CUNDARI on loan from the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
CUNDARI ranks second among Abbotsford blueliners with 10 points (4G, 6A) in 32 games with the Heat this season.
The 23-year-old rear guard split the 2012-13 campaign between Calgary, Abbotsford and the Peoria Rivermen. He notched 7 goals, 21 assists, and 28 points in 58 AHL tilts with Peoria and Abbotsford and collected 3 points (G, 2A) in four games during his NHL debut with Calgary.
The Toronto native was traded to Calgary by St. Louis with goaltender Reto Berra and a first-round draft pick in exchange for defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on April 1, 2013.
Overall, CUNDARI has accumulated 24 goals, 59 assists, 83 points, and 306 penalty minutes in 207 career AHL games with Peoria and Abbotsford from 2010-14.
LOCKE paced Chicago with 19 helpers and shared the team lead with 25 points in 36 games this season. His 6 markers shared sixth on the squad.
The 29-year-old forward has posted 545 points (178G, 367A) in 573 games spanning nine seasons in the AHL with Hamilton, Houston, Hartford, Binghamton, and Chicago. He was awarded the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL's most valuable player and John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the league's leading scorer with Binghamton during the 2010-11 campaign and has won the Calder Cup twice in his career (2007, 2011).
The Wolves continue their five-game road trip with a pair of games in Ontario this weekend when they battle Toronto at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Hamilton at 3 p.m. on Sunday. For more information or to purchase tickets to upcoming home games, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit chicagowolves.com.
