Wolves Stung

November 16, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves played a solid road game for 57 minutes, but a three minute let-down allowed the Sarnia Sting to score three times and stung the Wolves with a 5-2 victory on Saturday night.

The Wolves trailed 1-0 after the first period and tied the game 1-1 heading after two periods. Danny Desrochers scored for Sudbury with the assists by Ivan Kashtanov and Kyle Capobianco. The Sting scored early in the third period to take a 2-1 lead, but, a three-minute breakdown allowed the Sting to score a even strength goal, a short-handed goal and a power-play goal. Wolves' forward Michael Pezzetta closed-out the scoring with a late marker to make the final 5-2.

Ivan Kashtanov and Kyle Capobianco both rung hard shots off of the inside of the goal post in the first and second periods respectively, but former tender Taylor Dupuis had lady luck on his side for the Sting. Troy Timpano played a solid road game in goal for the Wolves and could not be blamed for the point-blank goals that the Sting scored to break the game wide-open after the mid-way mark of the third period.

The Wolves were 0 for 6 on the power play while the Sting were 1 for 6. Shots on goal finished 36-24 in favour of the Sting. Sarnia outshot the Wolves 14-4 in the first period. The Wolves outshot Sarnia 12-8 in the second period. The Sting scored 4 times on 13 shots in the third period. The Wolves will close-out the weekend Sunday night in Kitchener as the Rangers defeated the Erie Otters tonight by a similar score of 5-2 in Erie.
