Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves found themselves trailing late to Akron for the second straight night in a critical rubber game. However, just like the night before, the Howlers put together a late rally to seal the 6-3 victory and series win over the first place Aeros.

Erie sent Aeros killer Ramon Garcia (ND) to the mound, who had defeated Akron in four previous appearances before the night's action. Akron started early when All Star Chun Chen hit his second homer in as many days to put the Aeros on top early 2-0. Akron kept the long ball going when Adam Abraham hit a solo shot in fourth that extended the Aeros lead to 3-0.

Erie battled back in the bottom of the fifth when Avisail Garcia reached first on a wild pitch strike three call that would ignite the first Howler rally. Garcia would reach third when Rawley Bishop's sacrifice bunt was mishandled and thrown away by starting Aeros pitcher Giovanni Soto. Both runners would come home in the inning; Garcia by way of a Brandon Douglas ground out and Bishop via a wild pitch two batters later.

Erie would tie the game in the next inning. Jamie Johnson reached second base with a leadoff double and moved to third on a Nick Castellanos single. Johnson would come home when Jordan Lennerton grounded out and picked up his 58th RBI of the year.

The scoring would finish in the seventh inning when Erie tallied the deciding three runs. Brandon Douglas led off with a double and scored when Michael Rockett followed up two batters later with a two-bagger of his own. Johnson would follow up with a hit that allowed Rockett to race around to home for the fifth Erie run as the center fielder moved to second. JJ moved to third on a Nuiman Romero single and scored when Rob Bryson's wild pitch bounced to the backstop.

Nursing the three run lead, pitcher Michael Morrison held on to the lead in the seventh and eighth to earn the win and set the stage for closer Bruce Rondon. The fireballer shut out the Aeros to end the game and give Erie the victory.
