Iowa Wolves News Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Iowa Wolves (18-20) failed to reach the 90-point mark for the third time in their past four outings, falling to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (24-15) 103-89 Sunday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
With the loss, the Wolves have now lost their last six games dating back to Feb. 8. Each loss has come at the hands of an opponent with a plus .500 record.
Amile Jefferson finished with a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, collecting his league-leading 27th double-double of the season.
Melo Trimble flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds and a team-high seven assists.
Leading 31-30 after quarter one, the Wolves would be outscored 73-58 the rest of the way by Fort Wayne, who now owns a league-best 15-5 (.750) home record.
Minnesota Timberwolves first round draft pick Justin Patton finished his seventh straight game in double figures, recording 14 points, four rebounds and a team-high five blocks and three assists.
Anthony Brown and Perry Jones III each added 12 points while making five baskets apiece.
As a team the Wolves shot 44.0% from the field but turned the ball over a season-high 25 times.
DeQuan Jones poured in a season-high 40 points for the Mad Ants, including a game-high seven three-pointers made.
Tra-Deon Hollins was the only player to register a double-double for Fort Wayne, doing so in odd fashion. Hollins finished with 14 assists, 10 steals, five rebounds and zero points scored.
The Wolves will finish their two-game road swing Thursday night against the Salt Lake City Stars. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
