Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves will honor ABC 7 Chicago Sports Director and Primary Sports Anchor MARK GIANGRECO's achievement as the winner of the American Hockey League's 2006-07 James H. Ellery Memorial Award when the team takes on the Houston Aeros at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.

GIANGRECO, who garnered the honor for outstanding coverage of the AHL in the category of television media this summer, will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the start of the Wolves game to commemorate the occasion.

The James H. Ellery Memorial Award is presented annually to individuals of the news media who have made significant contributions to the progress of the league in three categories: newspaper, radio and television. GIANGRECO's honor marks the second time the league has recognized Chicago for media excellence. The Wolves and Comcast Cable were honored in 2004 for broadcasting every game, home and away, live - the only all-inclusive TV deal in the history of the AHL.

The awards, which were first presented in 1964, honor the late James Ellery, who served the AHL for 17 years as league secretary and publicity director.
