SAN ANTONIO---Left wing Brett Sterling scored with 5:43 remaining in the game to lift the Chicago Wolves over the San Antonio Rampage, 4-2 at the AT&T Center Friday night.

Late in the third period, center Johnny Pohl dished the puck out to a streaking Sterling who took a shot that was knocked away by Rampage netminder Al Montoya. Right wing Spencer Machacek picked up the rebound, but Montoya made another stop on his shot before Sterling was able to pound in the puck for the goal.

After a scoreless first period, Chicago (6-7-0-1) got on board just 1:16 into the second period. Machacek skated the puck out of the corner and dumped it back to center Jason Krog who then passed it across the zone to defenseman Steve McCarthy on the point. McCarthy one-timed a shot past Montoya to give the Wolves the 1-0 lead.

San Antonio (6-7-2-1) left wing Mikkel Boedker tied it at one at 11:06 of the second period. Center Kevin Porter skated into the zone and sent a pass across the circles to Boedker, who one-timed it past Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre, glove-side.

MacIntyre (4-5-0) stopped 31 of 33 shots.

With just 2:19 left in the second, Pohl gave Chicago their second lead of the night. With the Wolves on the penalty kill, Pohl picked up a lose puck in the neutral zone and skated it in on a breakaway to stuff it through Montoya's legs for the shorthanded tally.

Montoya (3-6-0) recorded 17 saves in the losing effort.

The Rampage tied the game once again when center Joel Perrault accepted a pass from left wing Jeff Hoggan and wristed a shot under MacIntyre's glove at 5:02 of the third period.

Center Kevin Doell scored an empty-net shorthanded goal with 21 seconds to play in the game to close out scoring.

The Wolves continue their trip through Texas in Austin against the Stars at the Cedar Park Center on Sat., Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
