Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves welcomed the Mississauga Steelheads to the Sudbury Arena Tuesday evening to kick off the second half of the season. The Wolves were looking for revenge after dropping their last game before the break to the Steelheads in a shootout.

The game got off to a feisty start as a train of players for both teams headed to the box. Sudbury Wolves' defenceman KYLE CAPOBIANCO capitalized on a power play to put the Wolves on the board first. The Wolves dominated the play in the first period with multiple scoring chances. Former Wolf, STEFAN LEBLANC scored the equalizer for the Steelhead less than 3 minutes later. The Wolves led the Steelheads 21-12 in shots on goal after the first.

The Steelheads came out flying in the second period, taking control of the game in all areas. The only goal of the period came from BRYSON CIANFRONE who capitalized on a scrum in front of the net to give the Steelhead a 2-1 lead. CIANFRONE leads the Steelheads in points with 35 points in 35 games. DANNY DESROCHERS fired things up when he dropped the gloves with BRANDON DEVLIN halfway through the period. After the second, the Wolves led shots on goal 30-23.

The Wolves tied things back up at 2 goals apiece early in the final frame when Captain BRODY SILK scored in his first game back in the line-up. The Steelheads continued their aggressive play in the third, which led to two unanswered goals for the visitors to give them a 4-2 victory. SAM BABINTSEV and BRANDON DEVLIN recorded the two goals to help push the Steelheads past the Wolves. The final shots on net were 40-34 in favour of the Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves are back at home Friday when they take on the Ottawa 67's at 7:30PM. The game will be sponsored by CAA who will be on hand with great giveaways. Tickets are available at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, online at www.greatersudbury.ca or by calling 705-671-3000.
