Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves kicked-off a two game road trip in Barrie Thursday night, where they dropped a New Year's Eve match-up 6-3 to the Colts. The Wolves were 3 for 6 on the power play, but it wasn't enough to overcome their divisional rivals.
The Wolves opened up the scoring early in the first period on a power play goal by Dmitry Sokolov. Mikkel Aagaard and Alan Lyszczarczyk picked up the assists on the opening goal. The Colts came right back scoring three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first period.
In the second, the Colts added to their lead early as Anthony Stefano put one past Wolves' goaltender, Zack Bowman. Captain Danny Desrochers added a power play goal half-way through the period to cut the lead in half.
The third period saw the Colts extend their lead to 5-2, before Lyszczarcayk brought the Wolves within two. That was as close as the Wolves came, as the Colts added one final goal on the power play to take the game by a final score of 6-3. The Wolves outshot the Colts 46-45 in the loss.
The Wolves will head to Oshawa on Friday afternoon for a 2:05pm New Year Day start. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into KFM 95.5 for the live play-by-play or watch on Eastlink TV.
