
Wolves Close out Homestand with Victory

The Sudbury Wolves were at home Friday night to host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Sudbury Arena in Game 4 of the Bell Challenge Cup. This game also marked the end of a four game homestand that saw the Wolves record 3 wins and 1 loss. The Wolves continued their strong play as of late, scoring early and often and never looked back to take the game by a final score of 4-2 over their Northern rivals.
The home team came out of the gate strong in the first, quickly gaining a 3-0 lead on goals from DAVID LEVIN, KYLE CAPOBIANCO and MACAULEY CARSON. Greyhounds goaltender JOSEPH RAAYMAKERS allowed 2 goals on 5 shots, before being replaced by New York Rangers prospect BRANDON HALVERSON. Shots on goal after the first were 14-5 in favour of the Wolves.
The Greyhounds closed the gap in the second period with goals from JACK KOPACKA and BLAKE SPEERS. The Wolves outshot the Greyhounds through two periods, 24-18 and took a 3-2 lead into the dressing room.
The Wolves finished the game out strong when MIKKEL AAGAARD scored on the powerplay seal the victory for the home team by a final score of 4-2. He now has 17 points in 18 games since coming to the Wolves and sits second in team scoring with 31 points in 41 games, just one point behind 1st year forward ALAN LYSZCZARCZYK.
TROY TIMPANO was strong in net for the Wolves, making 15 saves in the third period alone. Final shots on goal were 33-30 in favour of the Greyhounds. Friday's win give the Wolves a 3-1 advantage over the Greyhounds in the Bell Challenge Cup.
The Wolves now hit the road Sunday to make their first visit of the season to the North Bay Battalion at 2:00pm. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into the live play-by-play on KFM 95.5 with Stew Kernan.
