Wolves Blank Barons, 4-0

ROSEMONT, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves special teams clicked and goaltender Edward Pasquale recorded his first career shutout as Chicago defeated the Oklahoma City Barons, 4-0, at the Allstate Arena Sunday night.
Pasquale (9-7-1) stopped all 34 shots he faced in the win, which was his first professional blanking and the first shutout for the Wolves this season.
Center Jason Krog (2G) and defenseman Mark Matheson scored power-play goals and forward Tim Miller tallied a shorthanded strike for Chicago (36-26-3-6), which rebounded from a 4-3 defeat by the Barons the night before. Oklahoma City (36-26-2-7) and Chicago are now tied in the West Division standings with 81 points as both teams battle for the final guaranteed playoff spot.
"It was a different attitude today, there was a real work ethic," said Wolves Head Coach Don Lever. "We responded well. Our defense was solid around the net and Eddie did a very nice job."
Miller gave Chicago a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal, 11:37 into the first period. Right wing Darren Haydar stole the puck in the Wolves zone and chipped it to Miller, who broke out alone on Barons netminder Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers, moved to the right side and slid the puck behind the goaltender.
The Wolves pulled ahead, 2-0, with a power-play tally from Krog at 11:13 of the second period. Haydar attempted a shot but Drouin-Deslaurliers was there and kicked the rebound into a scrum in front of the net, but Krog came streaking in and popped it past him.
Matheson made Chicago's lead 3-0 with a second power-play strike, 1:25 later. The defenseman took a pass from Haydar at the blueline and cranked a shot past Drouin-Deslauriers.
The Wolves made it 4-0 just as a five-on-three power-play expired when Krog collected the puck after it bounced off a Barons player's skate and fired a shot down the slot and past Drouin-Deslauriers at 11:36 of the final frame.
Drouin-Deslauriers (12-12-3) turned aside 35 shots for Oklahoma City.
The Wolves will head to the Bradley Center for a matchup with the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m.
