Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, ND - Maurice Baker finished the game with 31 points, going 11 for 16 from the field, as the Dakota Wizards squeaked out a one point victory 98-97 over the visiting Los Angeles D-Fenders.

A late three pointer by Anthony Goods sealed the deal as the Dakota Wizards broke into the win column. Dakota (1-1) got off to a much better start against Los Angeles (1-1) but trailed 24-21 at the end of the first quarter. Baker went on to score 11 of his game high 31 points in the second to carry the Wizards into the locker room with a 52-43 lead.

Dakota continued to push the lead in the third quarter going up by as many as 11 points. Los Angeles slowly clawed their way back into the game closing out the quarter on a 13-8 run leaving Dakota with a slim 73-70 lead heading into the final quarter. Dakota would push the lead back to 9, but Los Angeles would not go away once again fighting their way back into the game and taking their first lead with 3:26 left in the game. Goods squashed any hope the D-Fenders had by connecting on a three pointer with 20 seconds left and Dakota held on for the win.

Mike Anderson had another solid game finishing with 18 points and 9 rebounds while Goods tallied 19 points and dished out 4 assists.

Brandon Costner had the hot hand once again for the D-Fenders scoring 30 going 7-14 from the three point line.
