
Wizards Acquire Walter Sharpe

Bismarck, N.D. (Nov. 29, 2010) - The Dakota Wizards announced today that they have acquired forward Walter Sharpe (6-9 250, Alabama-Birmingham) in a three team trade with the Idaho Stampede and the Utah Flash. The Wizards trade a 2011NBA D-League second round draft pick to the Flash and the Flash trade Dontell Jefferson to the Stampede who send Sharpe to the Dakota Wizards.
Sharpe was the 32nd overall draft pick of the Seattle Supersonics in the 2008 NBA Draft and was later traded to the Detroit Pistons. He appeared in eight games during the 2008-2009 season with the Pistons in which he averaged 1.0 point per game. Sharpe also played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League during the 2008-09 season and averaged 10.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in four games with the Mad Ants. In three games (all-starts) this season with the Idaho Stampede, Sharpe averaged 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
To make room for Sharpe on the roster the Wizards waived center Brendan Knox. The roster currently stands at 10 players.
