Sacramento Kings Assign Whiteside to NBA D-League Affiliate Reno Bighorns

November 29, 2010 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2010 - Sacramento Kings center Hassan Whiteside was assigned to the Reno Bighorns, the Kings' NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment marks the ninth time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Whiteside, a rookie out of Marshall.

Whiteside (7-0, 235) has appeared in one regular season game and one preseason game for the Kings this year. Whiteside started all six games for Sacramento in the 2010 NBA Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-high 2.3 blocks.

Sacramento selected Whiteside, an early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, in the second round (33th overall) after a decorated freshman season at Marshall. In one year with the Thundering Herd, Whiteside led the nation with 5.4 blocks per game, and also averaged 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds in 34 games. He was named the Conference USA Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year, and was an AP All-American Honorable Mention selection.

Whiteside will join the Reno Bighorns in anticipation of the team's home game against the Idaho Stampede on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Kings fans can keep track of Whiteside and the Bighorns by logging onto nba.com/dleague to watch every Armor game live, online, for free.
