New Jersey Nets Assign Terrence Williams to the Springfield Armor

SPRINGFIELD, MA Nov. 29, 2010 â The New Jersey Nets assigned 2009 1st round pick Terrence Williams to the Armor on Friday. With the assignment, Williams became the first affiliate player ever assigned to the Armor.
Williams has appeared in eight games with the Nets this season, averaging 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 19.9 minutes per game. In his rookie season, Williams appeared in 78 games, averaging 8.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. In the month of March, Williams put together his strongest stretch with the Nets, averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
"This is a great opportunity for him to go out and play," Nets coach Avery Johnson said. "We've talked to (Armor coach) Dee Brown. This is a great opportunity for (Williams)."
The Armor, who are currently affiliated with the Nets, the New York Knicks, and the Philadelphia 76ers, will be the sole affiliate of the Nets beginning in the 2011-12 season.
"We're excited to add a player of Terrence's caliber to our roster," Armor coach Dee Brown said. "Terrence is an exciting player who should fit in well with our team."
The first opportunity to see Williams in action with the Armor will be this Thursday at the MassMutual Center against the Maine Red Claws (7:00 p.m.). The Armor will also be at home on Saturday to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (7:00 p.m.).
Individual tickets for all Springfield Armor home games can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office located at 1277 Main Street in Springfield.
Box office hours are Monday â Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
