With three of top four point scorers out, IceHogs go 3-0-1

With three of its top four scorers on loan to the American Hockey League, the Rockford IceHogs went 3-0-1 in four one-goal games during Week 19 to pull within three points of the Western Conference leading Fort Wayne Komets. Four road games are on the schedule for the IceHogs this week including a rare Wednesday morning contest in Kalamazoo and three games in Elmira over the weekend.

Wednesday, Feb. 14: Rockford IceHogs 1 at Quad City Mallards 2 (SO)

Friday, Feb. 16: Chicago Hounds 3 vs. Rockford IceHogs 4

Saturday, Feb. 17: Quad"ˆCity Mallards 2 vs. Rockford IceHogs 3

Sunday, Feb. 18: Rockford IceHogs 2 at Chicago Hounds 1 (SO)

Transaction:

-Winger Chaz Johnson was activated from 10-Day IR on Wednesday, Feb. 14

-Winger Chaz Johnson was moved from 7- to 10-Day IR (original date 1/29) on Tuesday, Feb. 13

-Winger Paul Brown was placed on 7-Day IR (retro 2/10) on Tuesday, Feb. 13

-Winger Robin Big Snake was re-assigned from Milwaukee (AHL) on Tuesday, Feb. 13

-Winger Jesse Bennefield was loaned to Iowa (AHL) on Monday, Feb. 12

Bacon Bits:

Rockford is currently riding a club-record nine-game home winning streak, the longest in the UHL this season.

Center Bryce Cockburn had his club record tying 12-game point streak come to an end on Saturday against Quad City.

Rockford goalie Frederic Cloutier has appeared in 18 straight games for the IceHogs and all but one since the turn of the calendar.

Since Jan.1, Cloutier has a record of 15-1-3 with a goals against average of 2.28 and a save percentage of .922.

Rockford went 3-0-1 during Week 19 with three of its top four point producers on loan to the American Hockey League.

Preston Mizzi and Nicolas Corbeil are with the Milwaukee Admirals and Jesse Bennefield is with the Iowa Stars.

Mizzi assisted on the Admirals game-winning goal on Sunday against San Antonio.

The IceHogs had its eight game stretch with a power-play goal streak snapped on Sunday in Chicago.

Rockford has played in eight shootouts this season and five of them have finished 2-1 including three in the last six games.

Beginning Sunday in Chicago, Rockford will play 10 of 12 games on the road.

Hot Hog Week 19:

In a week where three of the IceHogs top four point scorers were in the American Hockey League, the only remaining top four point producer stepped up. Center Kevin Ulanski led the Hogs offense in Week 19 as he accumulated 2g-3a-5pts in the Hogs four contests. Ulanski now leads the IceHogs with 53 points.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Kalamazoo Wings. The game begins bright and early at 9:30 a.m. The IceHogs and Wings clash at Wings Stadium for a second time this season in a rare morning affair. The game is the first of two school day games for the Wings this season and fourth match-up between Rockford and Kalamazoo.

Friday, Feb. 23 at Elmira Jackals. Game time is 6:35 p.m. Rockford heads east to take on the Elmira Jackals at First Arena in Elmira, NY. The game is the first of three straight contests between the clubs and Rockford's first game of the season in Elmira.

Saturday, Feb. 24 at Elmira Jackals. The puck drops at 6:35 p.m. The middle game of the Hogs-Jackals three-game set in Elmira. The game is also Rockford's fourth on its five-game road swing.

Sunday, Feb. 25 at Elmira Jackals. The game will start at 3:05 p.m. Rockford concludes its five-game road swing in Elmira with its third straight game against the Jackals at First Arena. The game is the fourth of six on the season between the clubs and final regular season tilt in Elmira.

HogTalk Returns This Week At Shooter's North:

Bud Light HogTalk returns this week at Shooter's North. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and tonight will feature IceHogs skaters Frederic"ˆCloutier and Mike Letizia. The show runs from 7-8 p.m. and also features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. Come on out and talk IceHogs hockey and take advantage of some Bud Light specials at Shooter's North.
