Witala Signs ATO Agreement with Toronto Marlies

Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars are thrilled to announce that their all-time franchise leading scorer Chase Witala (1995 - Prince George, B.C.) has signed an Amateur Try Out contract with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Witala, a veteran of 302 games (all with the Prince George Cougars) finished his WHL career with 120 career goals (a franchise high) and 239 points (a franchise high).This season he finished with 40 goals and 79 points, which led the team. For his efforts this season, Witala, a WHL second-team Western Conference all-star in 2015-16 was named the team's MVP (The Dan Hamhuis Award), and was also a co-winner of the 3-Stars Selection Award with Ty Edmonds (The Chris Mason Award). In December, 2015 he was named WHL Player of the Month after recording 14 goals (including back-to-back hat-tricks on December 6th and 8th) and nine assists in 13 games.

In 2014-15, Witala won the Dorothy Johnson Memorial Award as voted by the fans. In nine career playoff games, Witala finished with five goals and two assists. He was originally drafted by the Prince George Cougars in the fifth round of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Prince George Cougars General Manager Todd Harkins adds, "Chase has accomplished so many great things over the course of his time in Prince George and we are thrilled that he gets a chance to continue his hockey career at the pro-level with such a storied franchise."
