Wheat Kings' Hawryluk Named WHL Player of the Month

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk is the WHL Player of the Month for March 2016.

Hawryluk, a 20-year-old from Roblin, MB amassed 32 points (18g-14a) to go along with an impressive plus-21 rating in 13 games played during the month of March. Hawryluk recorded multiple-point outings on nine occasions, including two instances in which he collected at least four points to help guide the Wheat Kings to a record of 9-0-0-0 to close out the regular season and a 2-2-0-0 record to begin the 2016 WHL Playoffs.

Hawryluk's performance in March saw him collect two first star honours and a second star nod. Hawryluk's efforts helped the Wheat Kings clinch the East Division crown and the top record amongst all Eastern Conference Clubs. Hawryluk recorded a career-high five goals and a plus-7 rating on March 2nd against the Saskatoon Blades in a Wheat Kings 12-2 victory.

The 5'10, 194 lb forward finished fourth in scoring amongst all WHL skaters with 106 points (47g-59a) in 58 games played. Hawryluk is in his fourth season with Brandon and has amassed 278 points (119g-159a) along with a plus-99 rating in 232 career regular season contests. Furthermore, Hawryluk has recorded 37 points (17g-20a) in 29 career post-season games.

Hawryluk's accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for March.
