GRAND CHUTE, WI -- Five strong innings by Matt Klinker and a brief defensive lapse by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers was enough for the Dayton Dragons to pick up a 3-1 win in game two of Sunday's doubleheader on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Like in game one, Dayton (6-4) scored first. Michael McKennon doubled to start the second inning. One out later, catcher Jake Long singled to center and McKennon scored for a 1-0 Dayton lead.

Wisconsin (3-4) rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the third. Daniel Carroll reached on a two-out bunt single to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He took second on a throwing error by Klinker. Alex Meneses doubled to left and Carroll scored easily to tie the game.

That was all Klinker would allow. In his Midwest League debut, Klinker allowed one unearned run on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Wisconsin's defense disappeared for a moment in the top of the fifth inning. Long started the inning with a single and took second on a throwing error by Meneses. Jake Kahaulelio dropped a sacrifice bunt to get Long to third and got more than that. Adcock bobbled the ball and hurried a wild throw to first. By the time the ball was tracked down, Long scored to put Dayton up 2-1.

The Dragons added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning. Denis Phipps doubled to start the frame. Long singled -- his third hit of the game -- to move Phipps to third. A sacrifice fly to left by Kahaulelio pushed Phipps across the plate for a 3-1 lead.

Enerio Del Rosario, who came on in relief of Klinker in the bottom of the sixth inning, shut the door on the Rattlers. The Dayton closer picked up his third save of the season by retiring the final six batters Wisconsin sent to the plate.

The Rattlers begin a three game series with the Fort Wayne on Monday evening on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Donnie Hume is scheduled to make the start for the Timber Rattlers. Rob Woodard is the scheduled starter for the Wizards. Game time is 6:35pm.
