Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI -- Wisconsin Timber Rattler starting pitcher Edward Paredes allowed one run over five innings on a cool Sunday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader against the Dayton Dragons to earn his first Midwest League victory. Calvin Beamon, Alex Liddi, and Joe Dunigan provided the offensive support for Paredes with a pair of hits and an RBI a piece.

Dayton (5-4) got on the scoreboard first. A two-out RBI single by Brandon Menchaca in the top of the second made it 1-0 Dragons. That was all Dayton would get on the afternoon.

Wisconsin (3-3) answered in the bottom of the second. Edilio Colina drove in his first run of the season with a double down the right field line and the game was tied 1-1.

The Rattlers kept hitting in the third inning. Beamon singled and Gavin Dickey doubled to put runners on second and third with one out. Dickey's hit extended his season-opening hitting-streak to six games. Liddi followed with an RBI bloop single to drive in Beamon for a 2-1 lead. Dunigan's RBI double knocked in Dickey for a 3-1 advantage.

Paredes wrapped up his day with a scoreless fifth inning. He walked three and struck out four over his five innings.

Wisconsin tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Daniel Carroll singled and stole second to start the inning. Those two events extended Carroll's hitting streak and stolen base streak to six games. Beamon's RBI double plated Carroll.

Travis Mortimore pitched a scoreless sixth to hold the Rattler lead at 4-1. Keith Meyer worked a scoreless seventh for his first Timber Rattler save.

Game two will be starting shortly.
