February 14, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
Continuing their run of consecutive games against the Spokane Chiefs, the Hawks took wins in two of three last week as netminder Taylor Gauthier etched his name in Winterhawks history with the Club's longest shutout streak. Portland's high-flying offense continued to produce as well, outscoring Spokane 19-4 across last week's three games.
Hot Hawks:
Forward Kyle Chyzowski netted a goal and two assists in three games last week, extending his point streak to seven games (5G, 2A). Chyzowski is one of three Winterhawks with an active point streak, along with James Stefan and Marek Alscher.
Forward James Stefan picked up points in all three games last week to push his point streak to six games (6G, 3A).
Forward Cross Hanas netted his first hat trick of the season on Saturday following a two-assist showing on Wednesday. With back-to-back multi-point outings, Hanas recorded a stretch of six consecutive games with two or more points between Jan. 29 and Feb. 11.
Forward Tyson Kozak recorded two goals on Wednesday and two assists on Friday, capping off a six-game point streak with four straight multi-point performances.
Forward Jack O'Brien posted six points (all assists) in the first two games of the week, including four helpers in Wednesday's tilt for his first career four-point outing in the WHL.
Defenseman Marek Alscher tallied in each of Friday and Saturday's contests, marking the first point streak of his WHL career.
Goaltender Taylor Gauthier broke the Winterhawks record for consecutive minutes without allowing a goal on Wednesday en route to his third straight shutout, officially setting the new mark at 251:11 on Friday night. Gauthier remains perfect in Portland with a 10-0-0-0 record since joining the Winterhawks.
