Portland Winterhawks News Release

The Portland Winterhawks' season came to an end as they fell 4-2 to the Everett Silvertips Wednesday in Game 4 of their first round playoff series at the Moda Center.

Everett opened the scoring at 12:30 of the first on a power play goal from Cole MacDonald for a 1-0 lead. The Hawks evened it on a power play at 17:35 when Blake Heinrich fired a blast from the point that got through traffic and beat netminder Carter Hart to make it 1-1, which remained the score going into the second.

The Silvertips regained a lead 2:42 into the second when Connor Dewar scored to make it 2-1. Portland tied it again at 10:18 with another power play goal when defenseman Keoni Texeira wired one over Hart's shoulder to even it at 2-2.

After the Hawks killed a two-minute 5-on-3 Everett power play late in the frame to keep the game tied, the Silvertips scored on another power play with 32.3 seconds to go when MacDonald notched his second of the game for a 3-2 lead Everett took into the third.

The Hawks battled throughout the third, but Everett's Brandon Ralph scored at 15:08 for a 4-2 lead. Portland kept pressing and drew a late penalty for a power play, and with Adin Hill on the bench for an extra attacker they generated chances looking to cut into the deficit, but the Silvertips survived to win and advance to the second round.
