
Winterhawks defeat Kelowna

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-0 on Saturday night in Portland taking a 2-0 series lead on Kelowna with their WHL playoff series now shifting back to Kelowna.
A second period power play goal by Troy Rutkowski snapped a scoreless tie and sent the Winterhawks onto the win. Brad Ross, Ty Rattie and Tyler Wotherspoon also scored for Portland, who led 2-0 after the second and added two more goals in the third.
Adam Brown faced 39 shots in the game, stopping all 20 he faced in the first period as the game was scoreless after the first period.
It was the second straight win by Portland, who opened the series with a 6-3 win on Friday night.
Down 2-0 in the series the Rockets now return to Kelowna for game three on Tuesday and game four on Thursday.
The first 3,000 fans into Prospera Place on Tuesday night's game three will receive Thundersticks, thanks to Tim Hortons.
