Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - Keegan Lowe blasted home his first WHL playoff goal with just over three minutes to play to lift the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 4-3 win over the Kootenay Ice on Sunday. With the win the Oil Kings now take a 2-0 series lead over the defending WHL Champions as the series shifts to Cranbrook for games 3 and 4. Edmonton fell behind and fought back to tie the game three times before taking the 4-3 lead. Rookie Curtis Lazar continued his hot streak as he tied the game with five minutes remaining in the third, setting the table for Lowe's game winner.
Michael St. Croix and Tyler Maxwell both tallied power play goals for the Kings who went 2 for 7 with the man advantage. The Oil Kings penalty kill which ended the regular season second in the WHL at 83.7% held the Ice to 0 for 4 with the man advantage.
