Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - Former Portland Winterhawks goaltender Adin Hill and former head coach Jamie Kompon are set to compete for the Stanley Cup, representing the Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers, respectively.

Hill, 27, looks to become the 11th Winterhawk to win the Stanley Cup after backstopping the Golden Knights to victories over the Edmonton Oilers in the second round and the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final. The Comox, B.C. native went 16-7-1 during the regular season with Vegas, posting a 2.50 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. In the playoffs, Hill took over Vegas' net in the second round and owns seven wins with a dazzling .937 save percentage with two shutouts.

Hill played in Portland from 2014 to 2016 and won 67 career games as a Winterhawk despite not being selected in the WHL Prospects Draft. He helped lead the Winterhawks to the 2015 Western Conference Final before eventually being selected by Arizona in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft. In his NHL career, Hill has appeared in 112 regular-season and playoff games.

On the other side, former Winterhawks Head Coach Jamie Kompon is in his first season behind the Panthers' bench and his 24th as an NHL coach. A native of Thunder Bay, Ont., Kompon's coaching career began with the St. Louis Blues before heading to the Los Angeles Kings, where he helped his club win the 2012 Stanley Cup. After a two-year stint in Chicago from 2012-14, Kompon was hired as the Winterhawks' head coach and general manager from 2014-16. He concluded his time in the Rose City with a 77-54-8-5 record before joining current Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice in Winnipeg for six seasons, then again joined Maurice in Sunrise this year.

Congratulations Adin and Jamie, and best of luck!
