Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winter Hawks peppered Everett Silvertip goaltender Thomas Heemskerk with 31 shots on Saturday night, but Heemskerk was up to the task, stopping all 31 as Everett knocked off Portland by a score of 5-0 at the Memorial Coliseum.
Everett got three point nights from Shane Harper (2 goals, 1 assist) and Zack Dailey (1 goal, 2 assists) to lead the offense for the Silvertips. Tyler Maxwell scored the other goals for Everett.
Portland created a number of scoring chances throughout the game, including point blank chances by Riley Boychuk, Brad Ross and Taylor Peters, but they were not able to solve Heemskerk. This was the first time in eight games this season that Portland had outshot Everett.
Kurtis Mucha went the distance in net for Portland, making 17 saves on 22 shots.
On special teams, Portland went scoreless in five opportunities on the power play while killing seven of nine extra man chances against.
Next up, the Winter Hawks will host the Central Division Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night at the Memorial Coliseum at 7:00 PM.
