WINSTON-SALEM DASH (10-16) vs. POTOMAC NATIONALS (15-10)

RHP J.B. Wendelken (3-1, 3.81 ERA) vs. RHP Dakota Bacus (1-1, 2.08 ERA)

2 p.m. - BB&T Ballpark (Winston-Salem, N.C.)

DASH EARN WIRE-TO-WIRE VICTORY The Dash never trailed in an emphatic 9-5 win over the Potomac Nationals on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. Winston-Salem scored once in the first and six times in the second to seize control of the contest. Eight different players drove in a run, while another group of eight banged out at least one hit. On the bump, Mike Recchia tossed five strong innings for his third win of 2014, and three relievers combined to preserve Winston-Salem's 10th win of the year.

OFFENSE BREAKING OUT The Dash posted their second-best offensive output in a home game this season on Saturday night. Winston-Salem's season high in runs at a home game came in a 10-8 win over Salem on April 20. Winston entered Saturday by averaging just 3.0 runs per game in its first 13 games at BB&T Ballpark. The Dash also recorded a rare crooked number against a team not named Salem. Thus far this year, the Dash are averaging 6.6 runs per game against Salem in 10 games and 2.7 versus the rest of the CL.

NOT SURPRISING FOR THIS YEAR The Dash have the second-worst home record in the Carolina League (5-9), but home struggles have plagued many teams. Only Potomac (7-4) has a winning home record, while the next-best win percentage is .500, held by Carolina (7-7), Myrtle Beach (7-7) and Wilmington (6-6). In 2013, five CL clubs owned a winning home mark.

P-NOT IN THIS HOUSE The Dash have dominated Potomac at BB&T Ballpark since the start of the 2012 season. Winston-Salem boasts a 19-4 (.826) mark against the the Nationals at home, and 10 of those Dash victories have come by one or two runs. Winston-Salem won all 10 home meetings with the Nationals in 2012 before claiming seven of the 10 against the P-Nats a year ago. In the Dash era (2009-present), Winston has enjoyed more success against the Nationals than any other club in the Carolina League (63-42, .600).

HAWKINS RETURNS Winston-Salem outfielder Courtney Hawkins is back in the lineup after missing the last three games due to a suspension stemming from his ejection on Monday in Salem. Hawkins has not played since that game, but he still sits in a tie for ninth place in all of Minor League Baseball with 27 RBIs. Hawkins, who is five off the pace in the Minors (Patrick Kivlehan, High Desert), leads the CL by three over Myrtle Beach slugger Joey Gallo. Within the circuit, Hawkins is also tied for second in homers (7), second in slugging percentage (.602), second in total bases (50) and tied for fourth in extra-base hits (12).

MJ WITH SIX With Tim Anderson sidelined by a left shoulder injury through at least Monday, fellow infielder Michael Johnson has filled in nicely. Johnson has played in each of the last six Dash games after appearing in only three of the club's first 20. During that span, Johnson is 5-for-16 (.313) with two RBIs and two runs scored. He has reached at least once in every game during this span thanks to four walks, all of which have come in this three-game set with Potomac.

THERE'S THE GLOVE! For the first time this season, Winston-Salem has logged consecutive errorless games. As a result, the Dash have dropped to fifth in the Minors in total errors with 44, which are 14 shy of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low-A, San Diego) for the top spot. In fact, the Dash only lead the CL in errors by one (Myrtle Beach, 43). The Dash do own the most unearned runs in all of Minor League Baseball (46).

DASH DOTS For just the third time at home this season, Winston-Salem mustered the game's first run on Saturday...J.B. Wendelken can become the second CL hurler to earn his fourth win, joining Carolina's Ryan Merritt...With five Saturday, Mike Recchia is now tied for the league lead with 34 strikeouts thus far this season.
