MUDCATS EDGE DASH IN FINALE
The Dash's six-game winning streak came to a close Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark, as Winston-Salem fell to the Carolina Mudcats 6-2 in a rain-shortened, seven-inning affair. With the game tied at one in the third, Carolina took the lead on a Jimmy Lambert wild pitch that brought home Robie Rojas, who singled to start off the inning. The Mudcats added two more runs in the sixth and the seventh to pull away for good. As Dash reliever Zach Thompson finished his warm-up pitches in the top of the eighth, lightning and thunder crackled overhead, and the umpires signaled for the tarp to come on the field. The game was called after a brief delay.
THE STREAK IS OVER...BUT STILL
The Dash's winning streak was not the only thing to come to an end on Sunday. Winston-Salem was also outhit by the Mudcats, marking the first time this season that had happened. Still, Winston-Salem is still atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including hits (108), , doubles (28), batting average (.293), on-base percentage (.375) and slugging percentage (.444).
