
Winning Streak Snapped Against Vermont

Sanford, ME - The Sanford Mainers fell at home on Monday, losing 6-2 against the Vermont Mountaineers. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for Sanford and drops the team to 15-13 on the season.
The Mainers got the first run of the game in the second on a Paul Kronenfeld solo home run to start the inning. Sanford's only other run of the game came in the fifth. Nick LaCroix reached third thanks to a three-base error and scored on a Matt Verrier sacrifice fly to give Sanford a 2-0 lead.
From there Vermont took over, scoring four in the top of the sixth. Brian O'Grady walked and stole second base. Dan Kemp walked and a double steal put runners on second and third. Brett Johnson walked to load the bases and Derek Jones drew a walk to score the first run for the Mountaineers. Jeff Cammans followed with a double down the line in left to score three more runs and make it a 4-2 Vermont lead.
In the eighth the Mountaineers added two more to their total. Johnson tripled and scored on a Rob Griffith single. Cammans came through again later in the inning with a triple of his own to make it 6-2 Vermont, which would be the final tally.
