Modesto, CA. - Early offense sent the Modesto Nuts to a 7-1 loss against the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.
In the opener of a four-game series, the Nuts (56-47; 23-10) had their season-long, eight-game winning streak snapped by the Rawhide (63-40; 21-12).
In the first inning, the Rawhide plated three runs on four hits against Alex Balog (L, 1-4) before adding another in the second. Domingo Leyba whacked a RBI triple in the first as part of a 2-for-5 day. Jamie Westbrook drove in two runs in the first two innings. Breland Almadova went 3-for-5 with a RBI.
Ryan Doran (W, 6-1) dominated on the mound allowing only one run on three hits over eight innings of work. The lone tally came on a solo home run off the bat of Raimel Tapia.
