
Winning Streak Ends as Yankees Fall, 4-3

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (23-21) hitting streak stopped at seven as the Jupiter Hammerheads (21-24) won the series opener 4-3 on Tuesday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. It's the first loss for Tampa since May 13th in St. Lucie.
Jupiter took a 1-0 lead in the third. With runners on the corners and one out, a wild pitch by Rafael De Paula allowed Ryan Goetz to score from third.
Tampa quickly responded in the home half of the third. Jake Cave led off with a single and advanced to second on a walk by Greg Bird. Later, Eric Jagielo hit a three-run home run to right field, giving the Yankees a 3-1 lead.
Two costly errors by Tampa allowed the Hammerheads to tie the score in the fourth. Jose Toussen committed a fielding error at third, allowing the leadoff man to reach. Two outs later, Noah Perio singled to left field. Goetz followed with an RBI single to center, allowing Juengel to score. Perio then scored as the throw in from Jake Cave rolled to the third-base dugout.
De Paula allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk, striking out six in a no-decision for Tampa.
The Hammerheads scored the go-ahead run off of Kyle Haynes in the sixth. With two outs and a runner at second, Perio delivered an RBI single, giving Jupiter the 4-3 advantage.
Haynes (1-2) got the loss after allowing one run on two hits and a walk, striking out one in two innings pitched.
Jupiter starter Jake Esch (2-1) threw six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. The righty walked two and tallied a season-high eight strikeouts.
Jagielo finished the night 2-for-2 after being lifted in the fourth. Jagielo now has 10 home runs and 31 RBI. Trent Garrison extended his hitting streak to nine games after singling in the fourth.
Up next, the T-Yanks play the Hammerheads on the first School Day of the season at GMS. Tampa's started is currently TBA. RHP Austin Brice (3-4, 4.93 ERA) will counter for Jupiter. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m.
