Aberdeen Wings News Release
Weekend Recap
The Aberdeen Wings dropped the first of a twin-set of road games this weekend to the Minot Minotauros 4-3.
In the first period, the Minot Minotauros who had not scored a goal on the Aberdeen Wings yet this season fired two goals right off the bat. Dating back to October, the Wings shutout Minot in two games both 3-0, but a different story tonight. Minot's Colton Kramer would score a goal with assists from Kyle Kruenegel and Tanner Holmquist. All three involved in the first goal are former Aberdeen Wings players now reunited on the Minotauros' roster. The second goal would come from Max Pernhem at the 9:41 mark. But Aberdeen would not lay down as #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) would find the back of the net to make it 2-1, his 5th goal. Only minutes later would Grebosky get his 6th goal of the season as the Wings would score on the power play. Assists coming from #2 Ryan Cook (D-Buffalo, NY) and #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI).
Coming out of the first intermission tied at 2-2, the Minot Minotauros would score again at the 10:52 mark. The entire second period would be a battle for the puck with little consistent possession.
In the third period, while on the power play Minot would score a goal from Alexander Kasitsyn making it 4-2. Pulling the goalie, the Wings add the extra attacker and #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) would score his 10th goal of the season making it 4-3, and that would be the final.
Saturday night the Wings struggled to get anything going offensively. Minot was able to jump out on top early again getting a goal at the 13:41 marker of the 1st period. They would then add another late in the 2nd to take a two goal lead into the final 20 min. Former Wing Kyle Kruenegel would put in the final 2 goals of the game in the 3rd leading Minot to a 4-0 win.
The Wings were only able to come up with 17 shots on goal for the game, while Henry Dill was peppered with 33 making 29 saves.
