Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Wichita Falls Wildcats raised $3,048 during the month of November for the Movember Foundation, and their efforts to fight prostate and testicular cancer. That total represents the most money raised by a North American Hockey League organization.
Throughout the month, Wildcats players, coaches and staff grew moustaches to raise awareness for Movember, while encouraging family, friends and fans to donate to their Mo'-growing efforts. Goaltender Chase Munroe (Naperville, Ill.) raised the most money of any Wildcats player, racking up $687.00 in donations.
The Wildcats' fundraising efforts were in conjunction with the NAHL's second-annual league-wide Movember challenge to see which organization can raise the most funds. This year, the league's 24 teams combined to raise $3,725 for the Movember Foundation.
The Movember Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to changing the face of men's health through fundraising and awareness efforts. Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, Movember has grown into a worldwide initiative, with official Movember campaigns in 21 different countries in 2013.
The Wildcats continue their charitable efforts with their annual "Teddy Bear Toss" on Wednesday, Dec. 11, when they host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7:05 p.m. Fans will be invited to throw stuffed animals onto the ice following the Wildcats' first goal of the night, with all toys going to the Wichita County Sheriff's Department's Cops who Care initiative.
