Aberdeen Wings News Release
After a 5-3 loss to Austin on Friday, the Aberdeen Wings were in action on Saturday against the Bruins on Hockey Day in Austin, Minnesota.
Similar to Friday night's start, the Aberdeen Wings jumped up early on the Austin Bruins. At the 16:34 mark, #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN) blasted a goal from the right point position, increasing his NAHL lead in goals scored by defensemen. The assists would go to #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) and #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI). With just seconds left in the first period, #15 Jordan Heller would score a goal thanks to an assist from #16 Kyle Haak and a great opportunity/assist from #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN).
The second period would also be similar to Friday's night game, as Austin would pepper Wings goaltender #30 Henry Dill (G-Columbus, OH). The Bruins outshot the Wings in the 2nd period 25-4. Austin would get goals from Eli May and Lucas Kohls, his 5th goal in 6 games against the Wings.
The third period would be a back and forth battle, as Austin would only have one more shot on goal than Aberdeen, 12-11. Late in the third period, Aberdeen would look to make an offensive push but the puck would get onto the stick of Casey Jerry who would dish it across to Guillaume Leclerc for the game-winning goal. Wings goaltender Dill would face 48 shots from Austin, allowing 3 goals. The Bruins would complete the sweep Saturday night with a 3-2 win.
