Motor City Mechanics News Release

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Motor City Mechanics score late to break the shutout bid, but fall 5-1 tonight at Wings Stadium against the Kalamazoo Wings.

It was Kalamazoos' night as they put the Mechanics in a 3-0 hole after one period of play. The Wings then scored just 33 seconds into the second to make it 4-0.

The Wings would net another goal before the Mechanics finally got on the board. At 13:07 of the third period, Matt Smith scored on the power play to break the shutout bid for Kalamazoo's Joel Martin. Peter Szabo and Adam Edinger netted the assists on the lone Mechanics goal. Szabos' assist was his sixth point in his last seven games, currently the longest streak of points on the team.

Rod Branch started his league leading 42nd game of the year and made 26 saves before being relieved by backup Bill Ruggiero, who made 11 saves on 11 shots.
